Vivi is ONE and I couldn't deal.
My daughter is one and I am still in denial.
The night before her birthday I made a Flipagram of her monthly photos and I cried hysterically. I also put it to the Stevie Wonder song, "Isn't She Lovely?" because I heard that song in the car a week before she was born, and we listened to it often in the hospital. I was an emotional wreck.
Below are her monthly photos I took throughout her first year. You can totally tell when she decides not to listen to me anymore and insists on standing and refuses to lay down. I love how independent she is:
I watched that Flipagram over and over until my husband finally intervened and stopped me. Steve Wonder had overstayed his welcome. I tried to pull myself together to hang up all her cute decorations I bought but I could not get it together, people! When Parker turned one I was not NEARLY as emotional as this time around. Probably because I knew that we were most likely done. I would definitely have more, but my husband is at his limit, and we agreed to 2, so 2 we have, and we feel lucky to have them <3
Anyway, back to my breakdown. We had just literally took down all of our Christmas decorations so we wouldn't come across completely lazy. Although the thought did cross my mind: "Hmm, do these lights add to the envisioned ambiance?...No, no they do not. Take down the tinsel." My inner perfectionist scolded me and we started with a blank canvas.
Unlike Parker where we had a birthday blowout, we decided this time around to have a small celebration with pizza, cake, and booze. I thought it would be beneficial to link some of the cute stuff I used in case anyone else could benefit from using it:
I took the below photo like a nerd while the birthday girl was still napping and our guests hadn't arrived yet (the rose-colored #1 balloon and accent balloons were all from Party City btw)
I took some time looking on Amazon for cute stuff that wouldn't break the bank. I have maybe 1 paycheck a month where I have a little breathing room so I needed to be thrifty. Below is where I link everything I found on Amazon:
The High Chair
I decided to splurge on this hoping it would be a keepsake, and I plan to hang it in her room. Lovehaus Events do so much more than high chair skirts and hats, but their handmade style and attention to detail made this the perfect special piece for Vivi:

I fell in love with these cupcake and cake toppers - I'm an idiot and didn't get a good photo of the cake, but the image on Amazon shows just how adorable these were. These are by Little Quine Crafts:
Also, to save money and not do a custom cake, I used Cupcake Color Mist (you can buy either on Amazon, or A.C. Moore) and sprayed ShopRite cupcakes/cake with it to give all the cakes a really pretty pearlized, iridescent glow:
The finishing touches! See below for where to get our cute stuff:
SO before I knew it, the day was over and I was tucking my little squirt back into bed, all the while thinking how incredibly proud we are of her. By the end of the day, being around family and friends and seeing how many people love my daughter turned my tears into smiles. I also think hanging up the decorations and planning her special day had an immense cathartic effect, although I think I will always cry a little when I hear that song. Hope some of these links are helpful!
