May Love Be With You: My Sister's Bridal Shower

I'm so honored to be my sister's Matron of Honor, so when I started planning her bridal shower I knew I wanted it to be special, creative, and a day she would never forget!

Since my sister and her fiance are obsessed with Star Wars, I thought using that as my theme inspiration may be a little challenging, but definitely memorable.  I found an Etsy Shop with an invitation that would be my muse for the rest of the day.

Here is a photo of the invite (Visit the shop on Etsy Here):

Next was the dessert table.  I wanted her to have an amazing show-stopping cake, and my friend Jackie absolutely excels at custom cakes (click here to visit her Facebook page, Cakes and More by Jacki).  Her and I collaborated and came up with this charming design:

I wanted a trendy backdrop, and found a reasonable DIY balloon garland.  But Buyers Beware: Balloon Garlands are not for the faint of heart!  I blue up the balloons and assembled the night before - big mistake!  Weeks later, the garland is still up and the balloons are fine.  If you go this route I suggest creating the garland ahead of time.  However, this Etsy shop could not have made it any easier for me to create, and I got everything I needed in the kit, including all of the balloons, a pump, the silver "Love" balloon, and strip.

Then I researched a bunch of Star Wars party themes on Pinterest, and found a bunch of clever ways to the label the food.  Her bridesmaids are rockstars and they each brought 1-2 items for the table or the party.  Here is a list of the desserts:

  • Yoda Soda
  • Wookie Cookies
  • Luke Sky-water
  • Light Sabers (chocolate covered pretzel sticks)
  • Padawan Popcorn
  • Princess Lays + & Leia Dip
  • Death Star Donuts
  • Edible Ewoks (gummy bears)
  • Vader Veggies

As for shower favors, I found this amazing shop on Etsy (Bear Hug Naturals) that sells mini soaps for showers that you can customize.  I ordered soaps in navy blue (Green Tea + Pear scent) and dusty blue (Eucalyptus + Mint) scents, with colors complimenting the invite and the wedding colors.  I put them in tiny navy blue organza bags from Amazon (60 bags for only $8.20 with Prime) with a "Thank You" tag from the Etsy shop where I ordered the invites.

I also found a ton of Star Wars Love graphics online, that I put in dollar store frames and had scattered around my house:

A few fun extras included a "Jedi vs Sith" drink, a Date Night idea jar, and a traditional "Do You Know The Bride" quiz.  My sister looked breathtaking, and actually matched the theme in her navy blue jumpsuit and white earrings!!
